As energy costs rise, it is increasingly difficult for the County’s most vulnerable residents to afford their home energy expenses.  Families with children, senior citizens, and individuals with special needs are having difficulty allocating their fixed and limited resources to pay their heating bills.  Some do without necessities like medical care in order to keep warm.  Amazingly, some struggle with the choice between eating and heating.  –  We invite you to help make a difference.

Keep The County Warm, a project administered by the United Way of Aroostook, is dedicated to keeping northern Maine homes warm by raising money for energy assistance.  When you give to the Keep The County Warm Fund, you are helping warm the lives of the elderly, disabled, and others who have nowhere else to turn.  There is a constant need for help, especially throughout the cold winter months.

Grants from the United Way of Aroostook’s Keep the County Warm Fund are awarded to pay for home energy costs, no matter what type of fuel is used, propane, kerosene, wood, electricity, or fuel oil.  The grant money will be made available to and distributed by those organizations that offer emergency heating assistance in the region.

Mission of Keep The County Warm

The mission of Keep The County Warm is to provide emergency energy assistance to people within northern Maine who are in financial crisis and who are not eligible for governmental assistance.  Such assistance shall be given in accordance with the guidelines but with flexibility to meet human needs.
